This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Jacinta McSherry O’Connor’s appeal against her conviction for indecent assault was dismissed by the Court of Appeal on 19 December 2024.

The conviction related to two indecent assaults of a male student in 1985. The court heard the assaults occurred at the boy’s home while she gave him grinds; he was 13 and she was about 24 at the time.

The appeal challenged the admission of portions of her interview with gardaí concerning an incident with another teacher. The Court of Appeal held that the material was relevant and necessary as background evidence, and dismissed the appeal.
