High Court refuses to confirm Daniel Drew’s insolvency arrangement

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

The High Court refused to confirm a proposed Personal Insolvency Arrangement for Daniel Drew, ruling that it had no jurisdiction to hear the application because a relevant debt had not been established. The arrangement had been rejected by creditors in 2019.

The proposed six-month arrangement covered debts of more than €3 million and included a €42,000 contribution for unsecured creditors, a dividend of 1.1%. Everyday Finance DAC opposed the application, arguing that Drew’s means had not been fully applied to his debts and that he was renting in Cork while an investment property in Tipperary was available.

The judge found that evidence did not establish Drew lived at the Tipperary property when the arrangement was proposed. He dismissed the application, while noting that the insolvency practitioner had suggested a revised arrangement lasting 72 months and including rental money for creditors; the judge said this might provide a basis for a future agreement.
