High Court challenge resolved and social media condition quashed

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

A High Court challenge by campaigner Fiona O'Leary over a restriction on her social media posts has been resolved, and the Director of Public Prosecutions consented to an order quashing the condition.

The condition had been imposed by Judge James McNulty at Bandon District Court. It barred O'Leary, during a two-year period, from engaging in behaviour in a public place or forum, including social media, that was abusive or offensive to any person. She challenged it on freedom of expression grounds.

O'Leary campaigns against pseudoscience and treatments offered to people with cancer and autism. The High Court was told the judicial review action had resolved.
