By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Gediminas Zigmantas had his sentence for robbery and false imprisonment reduced to six years by the Court of Appeal on 16 December 2016. The offences occurred at Cork’s Metropole Hotel on 10 September 2014.

Zigmantas had pleaded guilty at Cork Circuit Criminal Court and received an eight-year sentence in April 2015. The appeal court found the original starting point somewhat excessive, while taking account of his guilty plea and progress in prison.
