Four men were convicted of sexually abusing their deaf relative after a Central Criminal Court jury completed its work on 10 June 2026. Jurors could not agree on three remaining rape counts involving two other men and one of the convicted men.

The proceedings were reported on 10 June 2026. The men had denied all the charges. Ms Justice Caroline Biggs presided over the trial, which began in October 2025. None of the parties can be named for legal reasons.

Seven men originally faced 103 charges. After the prosecution closed its case, 83 charges were withdrawn, including all charges against Accused D, a brother of the main complainant. The six remaining defendants faced 20 charges, 16 concerning her.

On 9 June, the jury found Accused C guilty by a majority of anally raping a younger sister, Complainant 3, when she was a child, between September 2010 and September 2014. On 10 June, it found him guilty by a majority of nine further counts: sexually assaulting Complainant 2 between 2005 and 2006, raping her twice between 2015 and 2018, and committing three rapes, two anal rapes and a sexual assault against the main complainant between 2003 and 2010.

The jury had previously convicted Accused B, an uncle, of three rapes and one anal rape of the main complainant between 2006 and 2014. It convicted her brother Accused E of two anal rapes between 2007 and 2009, and another brother, Accused F, of one rape in that period.

Jurors could not agree on a further rape count against Accused F or on one rape count each against uncles Accused A and Accused G. The judge remanded the three convicted men present in custody pending a sentence hearing in July and remanded A and G pending directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Accused C was absent from court on 10 June. After a prosecution application, Ms Justice Biggs issued a bench warrant for him. She excused the jurors from jury service for the rest of their lives.
