Fintan Tindley keeps four-year term for Cork post office robberies

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Fintan Tindley’s four-year sentence for Cork post office robberies remained unchanged after the Court of Criminal Appeal rejected the DPP’s appeal on 13 March 2024.

The sentence followed robberies at South Douglas Road and Ballintemple post offices, and an attempted robbery at South Douglas Road, in November 2022.

The sentencing judge had imposed five years’ imprisonment, with the final year suspended. Tindley had no previous convictions, the court heard.

The appeal court found the DPP had not shown that the sentencing judge erred in principle. The appeal sought a longer sentence.
