Dean Teeling received consecutive three-year custodial sentences for violent disorder and assault causing harm over a Mountjoy Prison stabbing, and assault causing harm in a separate Dublin city-centre attack. The sentences were imposed after he pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
The prison attack took place in the recreational room on December 18, 2018, and involved six men. Teeling stabbed Shane Fay in the back, causing six stab wounds, and cut his finger; CCTV recorded the attack. In the separate incident on Fownes Street, Temple Bar, on January 8, 2022, footage showed Teeling make a stabbing motion towards a man's chest. The court heard that victim spent time in hospital and did not make a complaint.
