This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

David Allen was remanded in custody over robbery at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, reported on 5 February 2020. The offences involved an 89-year-old woman in Aungier Street and a taxi driver in James Street, Dublin. Allen pleaded guilty to both robberies, including taking the woman’s handbag after knocking her to the ground. Judge Melanie Greally ordered a probation report and remanded him in custody to 5 May.

The court heard that Allen was on bail for the taxi robbery when the later attack occurred. He had 25 previous convictions, including attempted robbery, burglary and theft, and the judge said a lengthy custodial sentence was likely.
