A Cork sex offender was jailed for a total of 10 years at the Central Criminal Court on 19 May 2017. Mr Justice Paul Coffey ordered that the sentences run consecutively to the prison term the man was already serving for raping another woman.
A jury found him guilty in February 2017 of raping his former partner at their home on 8 September 2013. He had pleaded guilty to one count of orally raping her and to assault causing harm. Those offences took place at the same address on 10 July 2013.
At the sentencing hearing earlier in May, his former partner said she had spent the three years after the rape in fear of him until he was jailed for raping another woman. Mr Justice Coffey noted the profound effect the offences had on her.
The proceedings were reported on 19 May 2017.
