Christopher Lenihan sentenced for assault and harassment

By Niamh Kearney

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Christopher Lenihan was sentenced to three years, with the final 12 months suspended, for false imprisonment, assault causing harm and harassment at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 6 August 2018. The offences included an attack on Grace Brady at a hotel in Tallaght and continued unwanted contact after she reported it.

Lenihan had pleaded guilty to the offences. The court imposed 18 months of probation supervision and required him to complete offence-focused and victim-focused work, with a domestic violence perpetrator programme if considered suitable.

The defence said Lenihan had alcohol-abuse issues, could not recall the events and was deeply apologetic. The judge said a probation report found limited insight into the impact of his offences.
