Catherine Dawson was remanded on continuing bail over money laundering at the Special Criminal Court, reported on 24 March 2021.

The healthcare worker from Bettystown, Co Meath, was arrested after gardaí found more than €544,000 and £62,000 in two bags in a company car in Drogheda.

The court was told Dawson acted under instructions and was used because of her employment and access to the vehicle. She had no previous convictions and had accepted her guilt, while her defence referred to misguided trust and financial difficulties.

Mr Justice Tony Hunt adjourned sentencing until May, with Dawson remaining on continuing bail.
