Anglo trial jurors sent home in conspiracy case

By Rory Hanlon

This report is a localnews.ie summary based on public court reporting and records; sources are listed below.

Jurors in the trial of four former bankers charged with conspiracy to defraud were sent home on 23 May 2016 after one became ill, RTÉ reported. They were instructed to return the following morning to resume deliberations. The defendants were accused of agreeing to make Anglo's corporate deposits appear stronger than they were, an allegation they denied. The jury had deliberated for more than 15 hours, and the trial was described as the longest-running criminal trial in the State's history.
