Alan Flynn was sentenced to seven years, with the final three suspended, at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court, as reported on 13 October 2020, after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine for sale or supply. The offence occurred on O’Casey Road, Parkwest, Ballyfermot, where gardaí found 18 cocaine packages in the car while Flynn’s two-year-old daughter was in the front seat.
The cocaine was valued at €1,263,920. Judge Pauline Codd treated Flynn having his young child in the car as an aggravating factor, while finding that he appeared to have been a courier and the lowest-ranking participant in the organisation.
The court was told there was no suggestion Flynn belonged to a gang, and that he was unlikely to commit a similar offence again. The sentence left four years to be served, subject to the stated conditions.
