Adam Nevin received a two-and-a-half-year suspended sentence for selling ecstasy to an undercover garda three times. Judge Martin Nolan had revoked his bail and remanded him in custody for two weeks before sentencing him. The proceedings were reported on 17 February 2015.

Nevin pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to three charges of having MDMA for sale or supply. The charges concerned Sin Nightclub, Clondalkin Community Centre and Clondalkin Shopping Centre on various dates in September 2012.

Garda Sean O’Neill told Dara Hayes BL, prosecuting, that an undercover officer was sent to Sin Nightclub as part of an operation against MDMA dealing. The report said Nevin sold the officer four tablets for €20 and gave him a contact number.

On 13 September 2012, the officer paid Nevin €60 for ten ecstasy tablets at Clondalkin Shopping Centre. Almost two weeks later, an arrangement was made to supply 100 tablets at Clondalkin Community Centre.

Nevin arrived by mountain bike and produced a bag of tablets, asking €300. As other gardaí moved in, he threw the bag away before being arrested. The bag was recovered later and the tablets were analysed and found to be MDMA.

Garda O’Neill agreed with Kenneth Kerins BL, defending, that Nevin had told gardaí he was working to pay off a drug debt. Mr Kerins said Nevin was unemployed at the time and unable to finance his drug habit, but had since secured work in Norway.

Nevin had 23 previous convictions, including two for drug dealing. Judge Nolan said he was impressed by Nevin’s attitude to work, but added that he had previously been given a chance in the District Court.
