Labour Court rejects enhanced compensation claim for Dublin Bus drivers

The Labour Court did not recommend enhanced compensation for 50 Dublin Bus drivers affected by changes to route 123. Its recommendation was dated 23 September 2025. SIPTU and NBRU sought compensation at 2018 levels, plus an additional 20% for cost-of-living increases. Dublin Bus argued that the 2018 package applied only to routes transferred under Bus Market Opening, while route changes under Bus Connects were covered by a 2009 agreement. The Court said the 2018 agreement expressly stated that its compensation package did not set a precedent for future route changes. It said relying on that package would undermine similar clauses in other agreements brokered by the Workplace Relations Commission. Dublin Bus indicated it was willing to discuss updating the 2009 rates, which the Court said the parties should consider.
