The Labour Court recommended that a worker at An Garda Siochana accept an Adjudication Officer’s proposal of €36.77 a week in higher-duty allowance from 10 December 2018 to 17 March 2023. The decision was signed on 7 July 2025. The worker said he had carried out Clerical Officer duties from 2011 to 2023 and sought an allowance for that period, claiming €20,720.37 in arrears. The employer accepted he had occasionally taken on extra duties from December 2018 to March 2023, while disputing the earlier period. The Court said there was no basis for retrospective payment for 2011 to 2018 and recommended accepting the earlier proposal as a reasonable way to resolve the dispute.
