The Labour Court recommended two €750 increases to the retainer paid to 2,000 retained firefighters represented by SIPTU. The recommendation, dated 28 February 2025, followed a dispute with the Local Government Management Agency over when the increases should take effect.
The Court recommended one increase from 1 May 2024 and a further increase from 1 January 2025, advancing the dates in the employer’s proposal. The union side had rejected the proposed dates, seeking backdating to reflect public-service agreement increases.
