The Labour Court recommended a €3.44 hourly Sunday premium for 25 Security Officers employed by Bidvest Noonan, effective from 1 April 2022. The recommendation was signed on 11 May 2022. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union said the officers received 50 cents an hour for Sunday work while comparable staff at other company sites and replacement staff at the same site received €3.44. Bidvest Noonan said the client would not fund the increase and it could not absorb the cost. The Court noted that both sides accepted €3.44 as a widely used security industry rate, also paid elsewhere by the company.
