The Labour Court recommended that Bus Eireann’s offer to 300 Part-Time School Bus Drivers be amended to provide pay increases of 2% from 1 January 2020 and 2% from 1 January 2021. The recommendation was signed on 10 February 2022. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and NBRU represented the drivers, who said their hourly pay was lower than that of other drivers and they had received no increase since the 2017 agreement expired. Bus Eireann cited its financial position and said drivers had received a 3% increase across two phases in 2017 and 2018. The Court also recommended eight weeks of intensive engagement on changes to boards and their size, and renewed discussions about retirement gratuities after statutory changes to the company pension scheme.
