The Labour Court recommended that Limerick City And County Council and 15 Emergency Control Operators and five Senior Emergency Control Operators agree how to pursue the union’s claim for an independent job evaluation of staff at the Munster Regional Control Centre. The recommendation was signed on 5 November 2021. The council argued the claim was barred as a cost-increasing claim under the Building Momentum public-sector pay agreement. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued it was not prohibited by the agreement. The Court noted that Building Momentum provides for disputes covered by the agreement to go to other forums after Workplace Relations Commission conciliation fails, and recommended that the parties agree how to proceed under those mechanisms.
