The Labour Court recommended that a worker’s claim for Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology’s standard pay scale and pension access should fail. The recommendation was signed on 15 November 2019. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, sought regularisation from September 2017 and offered to have her Learning Support Tutor job evaluated. Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology said her pay was set by the Higher Education Authority and the issues affected staff beyond her individual case. The Court found the issues were collective and that her claim must fail.
