Labour Court recommends Team Leader appointments for three Dove House care assistants

The Labour Court recommended that Dove House Muiriosa Foundation appoint two qualified care assistants as Social Care Worker–Team Leaders, with the salary scale applying from 3 August 2018. Its recommendation, dated 29 August 2019, followed a claim by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union to upgrade three workers. For the third claimant, the Court recommended support to gain the required qualification and 12 months’ retrospective pay if she is appointed to a Team Leader role. The union had sought appointment to an unqualified role; the Court said it could not recommend an appointment to a role for which the claimant was not qualified or which could not be approved.
