The Labour Court recommended further engagement between the Health Service Executive, PNA and SIPTU on recruitment and retention in psychiatric nursing. Its recommendation was signed on 19 August 2019. The Court recommended carrying through the agreed review of Area Directors of Nursing and continuing discussions to finalise the enhanced nurse contract. It also recommended examining whether the unions’ pay differential and allowance claims could be considered within the Public Service Stability Agreement without increasing costs, and establishing how widely qualification and location allowances are currently paid to psychiatric nurses.
