The Labour Court dismissed a claim by four An Post workers concerning the return of company vans in a recommendation signed on 2 May 2017. John Curran, William Curran, Niall Patton and Paul Gallagher referred the dispute under the Industrial Relations Act and agreed to be bound by the Court’s recommendation. They asked the Court to consider a collective agreement between An Post and the Communications Workers Union, as well as decisions of a monitoring group jointly operated by them. The Court said it did not have the union’s views on the matters before it. The four claimants did not appear at the hearing. Their representative, Michael Gallagher, said he was appearing in a personal capacity and not for the union. The Court dismissed the claim in all the circumstances.
