The Labour Court recommended that Dublin City University fully implement an agreement to upgrade academic staff and appoint the employees who qualified under its terms. The recommendation said the appointments should take effect from 29 September 2016. Ifut said the promotion posts had not been sanctioned and successful applicants had suffered financial losses. Dublin City University said it remained committed to the agreement, while arguing that the process related to a separate institution before incorporation. The Court said the upgrading process was completed shortly before the Church of Ireland College of Education was incorporated into Dublin City University, but the Department of Education and Skills had not sanctioned it, so the upgrades did not take effect. The recommendation was dated 3 April 2017.
