The Labour Court recommended against a worker’s appeal for retrospective pay increments from Iarnrod Eireann / Irish Rail. Its recommendation was signed on 13 February 2017. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, sought increments for March 2011 to April 2013, arguing that he should have been on the S06 scale while acting up at Kent Station. The employer said a 2010 arrangement covered only the staff then in the “Top 8” and was not retrospective. The Court reviewed rosters and found that he had not acted up continuously throughout the period, so the claim was not well-founded and the appeal failed.
