Labour Court recommends Froebel staff member follow normal process for future Maynooth University vacancy

The Labour Court recommended that a Froebel Department staff member at Maynooth University remain in his current deployment and compete through normal processes for any future vacancy at his grade in Roinn na Nua Ghaeilge. The recommendation was signed on 7 December 2015. The dispute followed the transfer of Froebel College of Education to Maynooth University under a 2013 agreement. The Irish Federation of University Teachers (IFUT) said changes to degree programmes left the staff member unsuited to his role and sought a future transfer. The Court said the circumstances did not justify departing from the normal process for filling vacancies, and recommended keeping suitable opportunities under review.
