The Labour Court recommended that Cork Association for Autism reimburse a worker for paid maternity leave taken in 2014, in line with her employment terms. The recommendation was signed on 23 December 2014. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union referred the dispute after the Association suspended paid maternity leave without agreement. The Association cited severe financial difficulties and said staff had received 12 months’ notice of the suspension. The Court recognised the financial pressures but noted the worker’s terms, entered into in 2000, provided for paid maternity leave.
