The Labour Court recommended that proposed changes to Mondelez Ireland Ltd’s medical insurance scheme be processed at the same time for all affected groups. The recommendation was signed on 30 December 2014. The dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Unite the Union concerned ending premium payments for future retirees. The unions said the benefit should be retained at least for existing staff, citing the small number affected. The company said the current scheme would continue to the end of 2016, while it reserved the option of an equivalent alternative plan, and that retiree benefits were out of step with group policy. The Court did not comment on either side’s case.
