The Labour Court recommended that proposed changes to Mondelez Ireland Ltd’s health insurance scheme be processed at the same time for all affected groups. The recommendation was signed on 30 December 2014. The dispute with Unite concerned the company’s proposal to cap the medical allowance at its current rate. Unite said the cap was not covered by the Harmonisation Agreement and was unwarranted given the small number of employees affected. The company said rising medical costs had made the scheme unsustainable and that a cap at the current rate was a reasonable response. The Court did not comment on either side’s case.
