The Labour Court recommended that Mayo County Council and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union hold further discussions on winter road maintenance and supervisors’ overtime. The recommendation was signed on 12 June 2014. The union said supervisors continued to respond to texts about winter conditions outside normal working hours but were not paid, and sought retrospective overtime and restoration of their supervisory role. Mayo County Council said the work could be done by one person and monitored centrally, and that the change followed the Public Service Agreement 2010–2014. The Court found there had not been sufficient engagement and said unresolved matters could be referred back for a definitive recommendation.
