The Labour Court recommended a €1,200 gross goodwill payment per employee for five technicians at Mcallister's Garage Limited, in a dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over changed working hours and rosters. The recommendation was signed on 18 December 2013. The union said revised opening hours changed the workers’ contract terms and caused financial loss. The company said the workers had the same terms as others in the group and cited falling sales and reduced profits. The Court recommended the payment, subject to statutory deductions, in consideration of cooperation with the new working arrangements, and recommended reinstating and accepting the other elements of the Labour Relations Commission proposal.
