Labour Court recommends HSE night shift rate for NCH doctors

The Labour Court recommended that the Health Service Executive pay NCH doctors the established shift rate for night work under its May 2009 terms and conditions. The recommendation was signed on 19 December 2013. The Irish Medical Organisation said the doctors should receive the rate paid to other HSE staff working nights. The HSE argued the claim would increase costs and pointed to financial pressures. The court said it could not establish that the claim was cost-increasing and found merit in the union’s claim.
