The Labour Court recommended that A.I.B Bank pay Martin Conaghan €12,500 after finding the bank denied him fair procedures before dismissing him. The recommendation was signed on 30 January 2013.

Conaghan said the bank did not explain the purpose of his first meeting, give him a chance to be represented or explain himself, or offer an appeal. A.I.B Bank said it found he had arrears with another bank that he had not declared in a pre-employment probity questionnaire, and dismissed him after meetings about the omission.

The Court said the dismissal could not be upheld and recommended €12,500 in compensation. It also recommended that the bank review its policies and procedures with the relevant trade union.
