The Labour Court recommended that Aer Lingus Limited engage with affected staff through their trade unions to reach an agreement addressing a worker’s grievance over an acting-up position. The recommendation was signed on 12 December 2012. The worker said they had done the additional work for several years without extra pay and should have received the position when it became a promotion opportunity. Aer Lingus said others had also provided acting-up cover and that the most senior rostered staff member now assumes charge. The Court said the issue could affect other staff whose cases were not before it, and recommended seeking an agreement fair to all concerned.
