The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union accept Dublin City Council’s proposal to remove Motor Tax staff’s additional half-day of flexi leave every four weeks. The recommendation was signed on 29 August 2011. The Council said 45% of Motor Tax staff took the extra half-day, equivalent to 2.5 full-time employees and €107,000 a year based on average earnings. The Court found the proposal consistent with the Public Service Agreement and the consultation process; it said the change would standardise leave and bring the department into line with other Council staff, without adding working hours or diminishing terms and conditions.
