The Labour Court recommended further discussions between AIB Direct Banking and the Irish Bank Officials' Association over an unpaid bonus for the second half of 2009. The recommendation was signed on 15 August 2011. AIB said it would not pay the December 2009 bonus because of its financial circumstances. After conciliation, it said it would pay, but later cited correspondence from the Minister for Finance stating that no bonuses would be paid. The Court recommended that the parties seek a practical solution within relevant legislation, taking account of the staff's circumstances.
