The Labour Court recommended a once-off €2,000 payment to Global Tele Sales Ltd staff who were earning below the former Salary Band II maximum in November 2007. The recommendation was signed on 7 June 2011.
The Communications Workers Union argued that affected workers had lost the chance to progress to the former band’s maximum. Global Tele Sales Ltd said its performance bonus scheme gave staff the opportunity to earn more. The Court found that workers lost potential future earnings, rather than money already paid, and recommended a review of pay outcomes and training and support for affected staff.
