The Labour Court recommended that Bord Gáis tell the Bord Gáis Group of Unions how it decided which employees received payments connected with the Network Transformation Programme. The recommendation was signed on 16 December 2010.
The unions sought a lead-in payment for all staff and an upgrade for employees who would operate new hand-held terminals. Bord Gáis said the changes were necessary, covered by the Response 2000 Agreement and did not justify compensation.
The Court said employees who could show they met the payment criteria, in whole or in part, should be able to claim, with claims considered on the same basis as earlier payments. Individual disputes should go through the company's internal procedures. It did not recommend conceding the hand-held technology claim.
