Labour Court rejects union claim to retain part-time Station Officer post

The Labour Court did not recommend retaining a part-time Station Officer post alongside a full-time post at Kilkenny County Council, Part/Time Fire Service. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union supported the full-time appointment but argued the part-time role should remain as a promotional pathway. The Court said that reason was not sufficient to recommend concession of the union’s claim, and noted that no operational need for both posts had been suggested. The recommendation was signed on 28 September 2009.
