The Labour Court recommended that six workers at Carlow County Council receive two additional days of annual leave in the current leave year after finding unfairness in the requirement to take annual leave alongside term-time leave. The recommendation was signed on 22 September 2009.
The Court said the scheme did not authorise the Council to require participating staff to take annual leave with term-time leave, and that local management had not consulted staff or their union before making the change. It also recommended that similar proposals be discussed with the union before implementation.
