The Labour Court recommended that the severance package dated 30 October 2003 apply to workers made redundant at three stores operated by 4 Home Superstores. The recommendation was signed on 25 September 2009. The Services and Industrial Professional Technical Union and Mandate said the redundancy process breached procedural agreements and sought opportunities for affected workers to remain employed at transferred stores. The company said it could not fund an enhanced redundancy package because of the retail downturn.
