Labour Court does not recommend conceding SIPTU’s four-day leave claim at UCD

The Labour Court did not recommend conceding the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim for four extra days’ annual leave for staff moved between buildings on University College Dublin’s Belfield campus. The recommendation was signed on 1 July 2009. The union said the move involved extra work and cooperation, caused inconvenience and took place during the busiest time of year. It also argued that UCD staff had received compensation for other relocations. UCD said the move was within the campus, the new premises offered a better working environment and the relocation was normal ongoing change under the Towards 2016 agreement. The union referred the dispute to the Labour Court after local discussions and conciliation did not resolve it.
