The Labour Court recommended an ex-gratia payment to each of three workers made redundant by Donegal Local Development Company Limited, equal to the value of each worker’s rebate from statutory redundancy pay. Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought an enhanced payment of 3.35 weeks’ pay per year of service. The company said funding cuts had necessitated the redundancies and it could not afford an additional payment. The Court noted other savings through reduced running costs and recommended the payments. The recommendation was signed on 8 June 2009.
