In 2008, the Labour Court recommended that Brady Family Limited pay a worker €198 for claimed travel expenses, in full and final settlement of claims arising from his employment. The recommendation was dated 2 December 2008. The worker, a relief van sales driver, said he had been promised mileage for using his own car to travel to and from the depot. Brady Family Limited said it did not pay home-to-work mileage and that he received a basic wage and daily subsistence. The Court said employers should not generally be responsible for travel-to-work expenses, but found the circumstances unclear and the amount small. It recommended the €198 payment in full and final settlement of employment claims.
