The Labour Court recommended a redundancy package of five and a half weeks’ pay per year of service, including statutory entitlements, for 25 Arnotts accounts-payable staff facing compulsory redundancy. The recommendation was dated 10 October 2008. No individual should receive more than they could potentially earn before normal retirement age. Mandate had sought two extra weeks’ pay per year on top of the five weeks Arnotts offered, arguing a cap disadvantaged longer-serving workers. The Court recommended including performance bonuses where applicable. Staff with less than two years’ service should receive five weeks’ pay per year as an ex-gratia payment. The Court did not recommend compensation for loss of a company car.
