In 2008, the Labour Court recommended revised on-call and meal allowances for Chubb Ireland Limited's Munster fire engineers, accepting the company's offer with changes. The Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union had sought harmonised rates, while Chubb said larger increases would harm its competitiveness and exceed budget limits. The recommendation included a €150 weekly on-call allowance phased in over 24 months, a €7.50 receipted lunch allowance with a 20-mile qualifying radius, and a €20 receipted dinner allowance. It was signed on 5 February 2008.
