The Labour Court found a worker’s dismissal by Dunnes Stores unfair and recommended one week’s wages in settlement of the claim. The worker had taken a chicken roll without paying, saying he intended to pay but forgot. The recommendation was dated 14 December 2007. The Court cited a long delay in raising the incident and said the worker had not had a full opportunity to make representations before his employment was terminated. Dunnes Stores did not attend the hearing but sent written communication to the Court.
