Labour Court recommends 12-month trial for Dawn Dairies route restructuring

The Labour Court recommended that Dawn Dairies implement proposals to restructure distribution routes in Limerick City, with a 12-month trial period. Its recommendation was dated 7 December 2007 and adopted proposals first put to the parties by the Labour Relations Commission in August 2006. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought protections for drivers' earnings and working patterns, saying projected earnings might not be achieved and that the six-day roster was onerous. Dawn Dairies said the changes would address inefficiency, remove route overlaps and optimise routes. The Court said implementation would allow the company to compete in the market.
