The Labour Court recommended that the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union agree to handheld technology at Dawn Dairies, with a review after six months. The recommendation was signed on 2 July 2007. The union said problems with the machines could extend drivers' working hours without compensation. Dawn Dairies said handheld technology was standard in the distribution industry and that it had offered 12 hours' overtime for training. The Court said appropriate compensation should be negotiated at the review if the system significantly increased the affected staff's working hours.
